Why This Area Matters
Peoria is one of the most active and heavily traveled streets in Tulsa, with more residents living within close proximity than any other corridor in the city. It runs through some of Tulsa’s most densely populated areas and serves as a central point of access for surrounding neighborhoods.
This concentration of residents is one of the reasons the city selected Peoria for Bus Rapid Transit, reinforcing its role as a key transportation and economic corridor.
What We Are Doing
Our efforts along the corridor are focused on supporting long term economic development that complements the surrounding housing initiatives.
This includes:
- Activation of commercial properties along Peoria
- Support for small business and neighborhood-serving retail
- Creation of spaces that provide needed services and amenities
- Strategic positioning of properties for long term commercial use
The corridor serves as the primary frontage for visibility and access, supporting both existing residents and future growth within the surrounding neighborhoods.
Relationship to Surrounding Areas
The North Peoria Corridor runs between and supports both Frisco Yards to the west and the broader Crutchfield neighborhood to the east.
While housing efforts are concentrated within those areas, Peoria functions as the commercial backbone that connects them, providing access to goods, services, and economic opportunity.

The long term goal is to strengthen the corridor as a stable, active commercial environment that supports job creation, local business growth, and everyday needs for the surrounding community.
